South Gloucestershire County Council have approved the ridiculous proposal at Homefield and given it planning permission with a raft of conditions that are not realistically attainable.
If this site is "suitable" what chance have we got of defending any field in South Gloucestershire against a similar decision within the currentt planning rules?
We cannot let this go without a fight
We are preparing a judicial review to challenge this decision
The Hall End Action Group are campaigning against two proposed Gypsy/Traveller sites in the Ladden Brook valley North of Yate and Chipping Sodbury This page covers the campaign against the proposed site at Homefield, Hall End Follow the Home link above for a summary, or the Homefield link for details of the campaign against Homefield, Hall End
Residents in the area around Rangeworthy, Wickwar and Hall End have been horrified to learn about proposals to put a Gypsy and Traveller site in the middle of this rural area.
South Gloucestershire County Council have spent your money over the last 6 years opposing the siting of a single caravan here. The applicant took this as high as possible on appeal, but eventually lost the case and was evicted.
Now, we are being pushed to have 5 extended families in several different structures on the same site.
The proposals are contrary to Government guidelines on the location of Gypsy and Traveller sites. These guidelines recommend the selection of sites that are close to buses, schools, shops, GPs, etc and for the sites to encourage integration with the local community as a key part of local council strategy. This site's remoteness alone is contrary to 7 of the 23 recommendations made in the Goverment guidelines.
The proposed site is at Holmfield, Hall End. This is about half way between Rangeworthy and Wickwar
| Each "pitch" has been drawn with a residential caravan, touring caravan and a "day room" - each pitch could accommodate 3 generations of extended families.- that is a lot of people and vehicles (some commercial) Walking and Driving up and down New Road!!! Have a look at the picture on the right showing a single family site in Hampshire. Click on it to have a closer look. Then multiply that by 5 to give the 5 units this application wants. |
